Has anyone used an online training portal for the delivery of accredited Face Fit training?

We have a 3M Qualitative test kit on site but would like to have a some employees formally trained in how to use it.

I know that there are a number of test centres who offer an off site course but Im less aware of good, certifed, online offerings

I am not convinced that you can have an effective online training  for doing face fit testing. The method for doing qualitative face fit testing is quite straight forward but the key thing is how you interact with person being tested. You need to think about things like:

  • Explaining to someone with a beard that they need to shave it off before the test can take place and you need to convince them that for the mask to work reliably,  they need to remain clean shaven
  • Dealing with people with non-started faces (ie most of them), which is tricky if the company only provides one type of face mask.
  • Dealing with people who are nervous under the hood
  • Dealing with people who are lying about not being able to taste the spray-and yes, they do that!
  • Discussing the various mask options to someone
  • Explaining why the crumpled dirty mask which has been kept in their pocket for the past 2 years is not acceptable as RPE

None of this can be done online as it involves interacting with real people.

Thanks for replying.

I should have been more specific.

I was enquiring about an online course for a person(s) who actually carries out the testing.

Fully with AK.

You may be looking for a course for the tester but there are nuances which will either be poorly explained or completely omitted in an on-line presentation.

We are yet to see the capabilities of a fully interactive AI - this is a good candidate for a course where the instructor sees what the participant is viewing through a VR head set.

We have always got the kit provider to conduct site training - gathering a group in one location if necessary or offering the course to other local businesses to share the cost.

Face fit testing is a practical activity.

It follows that effective training for it also needs to have a practical element.

Watching a video and answering some multiple choice questions isn't going to demonstrate that someone can actually do it properly.

At the very least a novice tester needs to practise doing a test.

Human Focus run once which is the advertise as being approved by iiRSM and lasts 2 hours.

Which I find slightly worrying TBH as I agree with all other posters concerns on here and would not go anywhere near online training for this course for the reasons already mentioned.
