A 17-year-old college student fractures their wrist while participating in a supervised gym session during a physical education class. The injury requires hospital treatment and a plaster cast. Should this incident be reported under RIDDOR, even though it occurred during a normal sports activity?

Not under the HSE guidance, unless there was a fault with the equipment or supervision. Peter will be along in a minute to say thats not what RIDDOR says, and hes right, but its how the HSE interprit it.

Funnily enough you already had feedback on this question before posting it

The injury must be work related so in consequence of supervision or defect. Tripping over their own feet or crashing in to a wall does not make RIDDOR.

Morning HSSnail

Panto season in the offing so my comment it "oh, no I won't".

[Might be that some new arrivals on these Forums will have to check AI to find out what "panto season" means]

Roundtuit has already pointed to an almost identical question.

So, on this one the HSE guidance on RIDDOR is sound.
