Hi all Next week I will be carrying out my first fire risk assessment on a premises in the health sector. Could anyone provide with various different templates for this. Although I gained my Nebosh Fire Certificate in November last year I would be grateful for any support. Brett

Afternoon, Afraid I can't provide a template as such, mainly because we don't like ours and are in the process of revising it, so I wouldn't pass it on. What I will say is, are you familiar with HTM-05? It is entirely written with the NHS in mind, and much of it is concerned with construction and design of NHS hospitals, so those sections may not be relevant. However, HTM-05.01 is about management structures in Healthcare organisations, and there is a lot of other material throughout the five sections which covers things like floor and wall coverings, evacuation arrangements and so on. Anybody doing FRA in Healthcare needs to know what HTM-05 says, even if they only do so in order to indicate where they have deviated from it. Hope this isn't teaching grandparent to suck eggs, John

Just did a quick headcount; there are 11 HTM-05 documents. HTM-05.03K is a FRA template, for use in healthcare premises, John

i have numerous risk assessments every thing from a 4 page to a 50 page complex risk assessment for high dependency patients in a theatre or ITU setting including air changes oxygen supplies etc the htm is good for modern buildings but for old buildings you will need to look at the old fire code start off by identifying which documents are required by the way there are 14 htm documents then other documents such as circulation spaces gases etc. gases fixed gases portable, do you know how many j size bottles you are allowed in a hazard room, what is a hazard room???then there is the local documents for areas such as theatres scbu intensive care labs need to identify categaries of patients, horizontal evacuation from a compartment to a sub compartment , uses of a hospital streets, what can be put in them , htm compliant bins in patient areas, l1 fire alarms were do you need them in a hospital, back up fire alarms, back up generators, back up 3 phase from the electricity board, movement of patients , ski pad evac chairs lifts, bariatric patients, patients on operating table please pm me your e mail and i will send you a load of stuff. i want to get it across that you are not doing an office or shop if you get this wrong you will get serious time, a hospital is not a basic risk assessment and there are people with massive experiance who wont touch one as a bad call can be catestrophic i personally do not think that the NEBOSH fire course give you enough experiance to do the complex areas but i will help with documentation
