Has anybody got experience of this, specifically the health and safety requirements? For example, the managememt company look after the fabric of the properties, carry out fixed electrical inspections and address fire saefty requirements but are they responsible for gritting / salting footpaths around the vicinity?

Occupants pay rent as tenants.

Thanks.

Depends
Is there anything in the tenancy agreement regarding tenants responsibilities with regards to general upkeep of the properties.
I would suggest that under section1 of the Occupiers Liability Act tenants have a certain degree of responsibility in these matters but only as far as pathways on what is considered their own residence. If there are communal pathways then these would probably come under the remit of the Landlord.
regards
