Hi, I have been a H&S practitioner for over 10 years and went NVQ5 route to Grad IOSH and have decided it is an appropriate time to shoot for CMIOSH... Part A was fine, not easy but passed no worries. Part B though has frustrated me completely as after the first shot I was unsuccessful without feedback or help, I asked if a mentor could be used, but no. I retook part B again and went the extra mile in my opinion to complete the part B as fully as possible and within the word count but have again been unsuccessful and again with no feedback to steer in the right direction! can anyone share an example of the type of constructed answer plan they are looking for? I have one more attempt then banned for a year (meaning extra fees of course) then a last attempt before I am blocked completely from progressing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will be taking the open assessment paper in November. Can you give me some advice as to the type of questions they will ask in Part A. Is it all multiple choice and is it easy enough to pass?

With regards to part B, what type of questions did you get and how hard were they to answer?. This is my first attempt at the open assessment paper so hope to pass first time if at all possible.

Many Thanks

Hi Ghodis,

part A starts really easy then gets progressively more tricky as it goes along. It is all multiple choice but the answer choices get to look more the same, I took 2.5 hours to complete that and pass it first time...

I have taken B twice and failed it twice. there are two 50 point questions in NEBOSH format. I have no clue as to why I failed and you get no feedback either as to why... so really good luck with it and I hope you fair better than I did :)

I have much the same story. I have been working in consultancy and have only say that any work I have done is fit for purpose. Part A is decidedly irrelevant as questions vary from simplistic to open to interpretation.
I completed Part B and believed I answered as best I could within 700 words. Having failed I have reviewed my answers and have no idea how I would answer any differently. No amount of 'reflection is going to help' and if the format is so significant why on earth could we not have a sample question.
Without any feedback I feel destined to repeat whatever mistakes I made first time round.

I am looking for someone who lives in the Buckinghamshire area who has been through the process and would be willing to review my questions with me. Any colleagues I work with were Chartered before the current process were in place.

Anyone can share the sample of Part B. Just to be familiar with their requirements.

Well done, do you have any pointers as there is not a great deal of guidance required, appreciated

I acquired my Grad IOSH status through an NVQ4 3 years ago and now taking the bite into CMIOSH and preparing for the OA.
I printed off all the guidance notes and looking over the syllabus. Suggestions on how to proceed?
I saw something about getting hold of the DIP Study books. Would this be the best way to go?
Also wondering how long has it taken some of you to go through this process?

Congrats for achieving this title. I have passed the Part B. Would you like to share your experience on PRI.

Morning, the PRI was less stressful than I thought it would be, but then again I did a lot of preparation. Make sure that you have 3 to 5 answers to the core questions based on your work history for they will ask you about your experience to qualify that you are ready. Just be yourself and try to relax. You will be fine.

Just in the middle of preparing for the open book assessment as part journey towards CMIOSH status, I have spent hours looking for typical questions and sample answers for part’s A & B from the syllabus and of course with no joy, what I think may be of great use to those that have to complete the open assessment would be to get your hands on the Nebosh Diploma course work namely part A B C , from what I see it looks like 85/90% of all subjects from the syllabus are covered from this material.
