As i may be soon taking up a safety manager post ,in the middle east - part of the role would be assessing complaince for above .
How is the amending/auditing current policies and procedures done?,ie what is best way to measure compliance and identify where improvements can be made .

Think this exact same question was asked on here very recently.

At the most basic level you need to obtain a copy of the relevant standards and then carry out a gap anyalsis so you can compare what is being done with what is required by the standard. Your actions will be based on these findings.

I think there are several guidance documents availbale to aid with this process. Cant recall what they are called though.

Have a look at 18002 and 18004, there are also some good pocket books on amazon by naeem sadiq to get a general idea

I have to report back to my CEO on how far we are away from being able to pass an audit but at this stage I dont want to pay an external auditor to conduct a gap analysis. Any chance I can also get a copy of that gap analysis?
