I completed the NVQ 4 a number of years ago and when looking at the job market recently a few of the jobs were looking for the Level 5. Can someone please tell me what additional units the Level5 has over the 4 and is it any great benefit as i am CMIOSH already.

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, I completed my level 4 which at the time was enough to get you up to grad iosh. I then progressed to CMIOSH.
The NVQ 4 was replaced by the level 5 and they added a few modules. You don't need to do the full level 5 again you can upgrade by doing the extra modules; at the time I think it was about £500 to do the upgrade.
Did I benefit from it ??? - Knowledge wise, not a lot - so why did I do it - To be quite honest because it looks better on my CV; and the company I worked for at the time agreed to pay for it, and to be quite honest it was quite easy to do.
You can go on-line for any information regarding modules etc.
You pays your money and takes your chose !!!!

Hi both,
There's no additional modules to the NVQ Level 5 - we deliver the new C&G award and still have some people finishing the Level 4. There are the same 10 modules, just in a different order with different numbers. We also do the conversion from Level 4 to 5 (albeit slightly cheaper than quoted) - all you need to do is show how you have continued to meet the requirements in a personal statements with supporting evidence.
I've had some people say they've gone for the NVQ 5 as it sounds like its a higher qualification (it's not, it was just regraded) where as some people are happy to stick with their Level 4 as its 'old school' and suggests you've had your qualification for a while.
You'll find people asking for NVQ Level 5 in job adverts as that's the current qualification but they should be just as willing to accept the NVQ Level 4, particularly if you are a member of IOSH as that demonstrates you are maintaining your knowledge, skills and experience through the CPD.
