Hello all, I just wondered if the H&S hive mind may be able to give some advice.
I had previously undertaken and passed the no longer available NEBOSH Diploma part 1 about 10 years ago and have been working in construction/hire/scaffold industry from there on. So now I feel the time has come to move on, but of course being able to achieve a higher level of membership would be better I think and a step in the right direction. So I need to achieve the requirements of training for this. Any suggestsions on how would I go about reaching the dizzy heights of NVQ4 or the equivalent level required to start a journey towards CMIOSH.....or have I reached my glass ceiling? Thank you.

There are a number of options open to you and which one you choose should be aligned to where you want to go as well as CMIOSH status. I'm not so familiar with the NVQ route having completed a MSc to gain CMIOSH. However a degree possibly by distance learning is an option which you might like to consider. There are a number of universities which offer diploma/degree courses in health, safety, risk management. I believe IOSH have a list of universities/courses which are approved for CMIOSH status.
