Hi all,

I am new to IOSH and am looking to upgrade my membership. Despite what it says on the website and their e-mails instead of supplying a CV and copies of certs I have to fill in a form and show references.

The problem is I am self-employed, how have other self-employed people provided references?

I have e-mailed the IOSH membership team and they suggested looking on here.

I am a freelance instructor but I also work in an Architectural Practice with my wife, we run the practice and have no other employees. Both heavily involve H&S but family members can't be references, so that rules my wife out.

Appreciate all help.

Thank you,

Bob.

Get references from those you do work for.

I agree,
Ask some of you clients that you have worked for to provide references,

Hi Bob

Great advice from Phil and Dennis. Other possible referees are people from organisations you may be involved in i.e. IOSH local branch, RIBA, ex employees, clients and peers. If youve done some voluntary work that would be a great avenue to explore for references.
