Good morning, Whilst I am (reasonably) happy where I am I have been recently thinking of areas which I may find really interesting and the 2 that stand out for me are: Event safety - particularly large full weekend events. Robotics and AI - growing industry and futuristic. Whilst it is more of daydreaming from me at the moment I would like to hear of those involved in these lines of work and the challenges and rewards from them. Interested also to hear what you would move into if given the chance? Cheers, Jon

I have an offer for H&S Manger role at Wembley covering events. Wish I had gone for it now it was just too far to travel every day. Like you would like to get into event safety or working on films.

Not a strict H&S role but I worked at Wembley during matchdays as a Senior Safety Supervisor (Basically a senior steward) that was interesting and I traveled from Wales to do that. (The money was really good). I have also been involved in various outdoor events including the Olympics and the various test events (This again was from a crowd safety point). This lead to me being part of a small team of international advisers sent to Baku in Azerbaijan to work on the European Games. I now look after the Health and Safety for a property company that has around 100 business centres and industrial units around the UK. This is a really interesting role and although not particularly glamorous, I get t explore old mills, old industrial complexes and office buildings virtually every day. I love my job.

One of my team volunteers as site safety officer for his local amateur league football club. Not exactly an event but much in common. He really enjoys it, but as always in H&S he finds senior management and trustee attitudes frustrating at times, John
