Hi all,

Im looking at upping sticks and relocating to Perth in WA, Australia.

Ive been looking into the various options for visa's but come a-cropper now that H&S roles are no longer on their national SOL List. (still on some regional SOL)

I wonder if anyone has any experience of moving out there with 2 NEBOSH certs and an NVQ L5? a quick google shows me this has been touched on before on the forum but the threads are old now - i wonder if there have been any developments.

I plan on getting my qualifications assessed by VETASSES however i see NEBOSH is trained/recognised out there already.

Without getting into the nitty-gritty of lifestyle (and flies!) does anyone have any advise on whether or not NEBOSH really is recognised and allows you to be as recruitable as a local? Im told that they potentially would only accept a degree level H&S qualification...

Any help or advice would be great.

Thanks.

Hi Rob,

I have also looked into this several times without gaining much clarity, I was recently in Australia and had a meeting with a consultant, the best way is to go across on 1/2 year working / travel visa and then apply for safety jobs, once in a job most will offer some form of sponsorship. Trying to convince the embassy or other bodies is much harder than it needs to be.

You can have just a general certificate and be sponsored as long as a company is willing.
