I am about to go self employed and I have a couple of clients lined up, does anyone have a contractor agreement template they can share ,that I could use to save a bit of cash.

Thanks

SBH

Hello SBH,

My advice is always to be careful with any legal documentation, especially contracts, since they can contain traps for the unwary.

I would suggest your first port of call would be to join the Federation of Small Business (FSB). Membership, (if memory serves) is about £150 per year but that would then entitle you to access not only their library of legal templates but also their legal advice department.

An alternative is to ask the client(s) if they have their own standard contractor agreements. If they do then have a look at what they involve and see if they are sutable for your purposes. If they don't quite match the situation then you may still be able to negotiate the necessary changes.

At least this way you won't have the full legal costs of drafting a new contract to consider!
