Hi,

I'm considering going down the contract route and setting myself up as a Sole Trader to work under an ageny. Contract work is becoming more popular among Health and Safety professionals as it benefits both parties. Yes one of these main benefits being financial, but it also comes with more freedom to move around. Appreciate any advice on this!!

Do lots of homework first - it isn't as easy as it sounds.  You need at least the equivalent of a year's salary in savings because your first year will be very bare.  Do all the free tax courses offered by HMRC,  find a good accountant, make sure you have no commitments financially that you may not be able to meet and then if you feel comfortable with living hand to mouth then take the plunge!
