Hi, After some advice please. I have just started my IPD and have a question regarding the description and outcome sections of each criterion. Within each box for the "description" and "outcome" boxes there is a letter limit of around 1300 I think. Yet, when I look at the examples for each criterion there is no more than 50 words. I have submitted 2 criterion's already which have successfully been signed off using between 900 - 1100 letters. My question is this, am I doing writing much or is the expectation that it should be brief and to the point statements in each box? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Hi, I am currently mentoring a number of candidates through the SDP and none of them have had any problems with going over the word limit to be honest. As long as you put in a proper description of the activity/evidence (and avoid waffling), you should be fine.

Hi alcy - I think that if those assessing portfolios are not taking note of the parameters that are defined there is a problem. Exceeding a word or character count limit might not justify failing the candidate but it should result in some points being automatically deducted in whatever scoring system is used. One of the strengths of a good OSH professional is being able to set out a report succinctly. Too many OSH professionals are prone to waffling.
