Hello all,

I'm preparing to transition into a H&S Consultant role - I have 7 years manufacturing experience and have never worked in a consultant role before. What questions could I expect the employer to ask me?

Thank you :)

Hi Kapil

The questions asked are likely to depend on what business model each of these consultancies operates.

So, one typical model has the individual consultant going out to the client for a pre determined time period, with another pre planned period for reporting - could even be no time for reporting if something like an inspection form is completed as the visit happens.

At the other end of the spectrum, the bid might say that the time to be taken to consider and report is going to take longer or even MUCH longer than the time spent on site.

Hence you need to know whether each of these consultancies are operating a conveyor belt or selling people who take time to think.

I recall being asked questions about how comfortable I felt about finding work (from new and from existing clients) rather than delivering it.   Maybe have a think about that aspect rather than just your technical skills.  Good luck.
