Hi all,

I am looking for a company to carry out FRA's in 120 sites across the UK. I'm just wondering if anyone has any reccomendations of a reputable company to use, specifically specalising in Retail stores if possible?

thanks!

Hi Emma

I don't have any recommendations and I am not going to spell out who I would NOT recommend on a public forum.

However, you might get a more helpful response if you provided an idea of the nature of the retail premises.

So, how many floors, what is being sold (and thence stored) etc.

Whole lot of difference between the competence required for say single storey shop selling convenience goods with single entrances to front and back and the complexity of doing a fire risk assessment in a five storey department store.

Fire Risk Assessment is quite a moveable feast at the moment given the fall out regarding competence of the individual involved at Grenfell.

The National Fire Chiefs Council offers some guidance (NOTE: published in 2020 it pre-dates comments from the recently published enquiry).

The Institute of Fire Safety Managers also offers guidance

as do the Institution of Fire Engineers
