Hi All, At the college I work at we are struggling with finding a way at how we conduct a register and ensure everyone is accounted for. We have up to 1000 people in a building at once so need a quick but effective way of doing this. What do you do in your college/further eductaion seetings?

Hi Laura, The obvious way to do this is via Fire Warden sweeps but I'm guessing you have already considered this and know of its potential difficulties. As you are a college all of your staff and students (and vistors) would have an ID card. Chenge these to RFID cards and install scanner entry control on all entry/exit points and even floors if you want to be extra robust. You will then have real time data on who is in the building. My wife worked in a Manchester office block where this was used 20+ years ago and it worked increadibly well. You just asked for quick and effective; you never said cheap!

With 1000 people in the building, plus perhaps visitor and contractors, it is almost impossible to call a reliable roll call whatever system you use.
A sweep is the only real reliable method. OK there's recruiting, training and holding on to sufficient numbers of wardens to do the job, but its much more reliable.
