Hello all,

A groundworks company is lifting rebar using slings provided by the customer. They are then stored in an area until needed, due to the tight constraints of the site in Central London.

The question asked today is whether these slings can be reused, as the onsite contracts manager is stating they are single-use only. These slings normally stay on the rebar until they are ready to be moved, which is very common.

The Slings are Delphini polyester Single Ply Endless Flat (purple) EN1492-1:200 A1

I'm waiting for a response from the supplier.

Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy

I think the question might be whether these are One Time Straps or One Trip Straps.

The guidance from probably the most authoritative source would suggest that as soon as you remove a strap from the load it is attached to then its "trip" is over.

Whereas it you leave the strap in place then it has yet to complete its one "trip" that might involve several lifts.

Addressing the issue of one trip slings

However, the advice you get from the manufacturer might be such as to indicate that these are slings suitable for more than one use.
