Hi ,

I have just recently passed NEBOSH General certificate in construction and IOSH "Managing safetly"

I have vast site supervision experience working for many years in the   Building engineering services sector on Construction sites ( Heating and ventilation).   This work involves the "day to day" management of Health and safety at site level EG ensuring risk assessments are followed, SSOW, PPE etc.

I would like to move into a SHEQ advisor or Coordiator role , however i m concerned my current experience will not be favourable for prospective employers advertising for these roles.

Any advise or guidance would be of value . Thanks Jim.

Hi Jim

Your NEBOSH Construction Certificate is set at Level 3 on the European Qualifications Framework so has international as well as national recognition.

Add your experience and there should be opportunities out there for you.

What you need to do is to make sure that your CV flags up what value you could add in a more dedicated H&S role, but NOT at the expense of underplaying your broader experience of the construction sector.

Good luck, Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the advise. Yes i understand H and S qualifications with a degree of experience in a particular field are are good foundation for seeking a professional career in OHS.

Good advise about CV.  Thanks Jim.
