Is it a RIDDOR reportable if the worker is no longer incapacitated but there are no shifts available

Hi All, A shift worker had an accident Friday 10th October. They have recovered from a soft tissue injury and are ready to come back to work. However, we do not have any shifts available until Sunday. This means that they would be off work for 8 days, not including the day of the accident. As their shift pattern varies from week to week, is this reportable under RIDDOR? Thank you in advance of any responses. Paul

It's whether they are fit to work that counts, not whether they actually work. This is a common question in relation to weekends and annual leave, but it's exactly the same principle for shift work and variable working.
So if they are truly fit to work, it won't be reportable.
