Posted By Graham Fox. Steve, I am also fairly new to H+S, doing it as part of my overall job as a mechanical engineer in a small medical company, with 15 employees. I have also decided to get some formal qualifications in H+S, and have recently passed the NEBOSH cert' at Chester college. Ideally I would like to eventually work full time in H+S, but feel that the certificate is not enough. Therefore I am seriously considering doing the Diploma Part 1 by distance learning, as my next step. I think it must be hard as in many other areas to get your first break in H+S, however I regularly trawl the local press for suitable positions, curious as to what salaries are payable for such positions. If you are interested there is currently a position being advertised in the Chester Chronicle for a H+S advisor for a company called Henrob in Flint North Wales. The stated qualification required is NEBOSH cert' however no salary details are listed. Best of luck Graham Fox.
