Hello all
I am in a predicament as to what to do regarding my career change in the Manchester area.
I have wanted to get into Health & Safety hence I did the nebosh cert and dip 1 two years ago. Due to financial reasons and other factors I have been in limbo since.
Due to an attack some time ago, I have had an offer for compensation which I must say is not what I expected but its something.
So Im wondering where I could invest the money to help me further my ambitions. hears my breakdown=
£5700
- £750 debt to be paid back to college for dip 1
-£1250 for Dip 2
_£2000 approx for car, insurance etc.
Leaving me with £1700 and dilemas
Should I consider registering with some institutions such as CIEH IOSH to deliver small courses as I have done a 7307 micro teaching?. This may help my cv and may come in useful should I decide to become a consultant later on. Cost approx £1000
Should I look into becoming self employed and spend on liability and buisness plans etc?. (would this work with Dip 1)?
Should I take other course i.e. Construction or environmental (nebosh) or even get a degree.
As you can see their plenty of ways to spend the money, the problem is whats going to work for me.
I spent 9 months as a assistant to a safety manager at a comer site which was a good experiance but only paid £200 per week, So I ended up leaving on good terms I might add.
Sometimes I regret it as Im sure I would be a Tech sp by now but hey, spilt milk.
I need to put this money in my future so I can stand proud later on and say I have acheived something and secured my finacial future aswell as doing a job that I would enjoy.
Please give me your opinions or the six week holiday with 3 lovely women will become a reality.
Much appreciated in advance
Best regards
Jason.

Thanks for the direct responces I have received upto date.
Sorry about the mispelling of COMAH, was rushing.
Have already learned that I could if unemployed get Dip 2 for £700 - £800 in Bolton area 3 miles away. (beats paying £3999)
Please keep the advice coming as I have to stretch so little to gain so much.
Regards Jason

Try agencies -as they can come up with many jobs that are not advertised

It is very hard to give advice without seeing your CV, if you want me to look over it send it to Ian.Freeman@LCH.com, I have a Recruitment and Facilities background and I may be able to give some advice that might benefit.
