Posted By A Olsen Just wondered if there are any Safety Practitioners out there who have achieved a happy work-life balance. Other than becoming an associate consultant or working in public sector there doesn't seem much scope and/or no employers prepared to offer flexible working options for their safety adviser. Please tell me I'm wrong! Who are these employers? What flexible work options do you use?

Posted By peter gotch Alison We're not ALL that bad in the private sector. Our consultancy unit has staff who have worked on the basis of various levels of part time working, which have been adjusted as individual personal circumstances have changed, eg gradually increasing working following return from maternity leave. We also let our staff work relatively flexible hours. Regards, Peter

Posted By A Olsen Peter, My posting must have sounded very disillusioned. I know not ALL private sector employers are that bad, however, you did use the magic words - "consultancy unit". Consultancy does have flexiblity that many others don't and you have access to a number of practitioners. Just curious as to what else is out there. Have we moved away from the 'taking work home/working late' culture? We promote it for everyone else but do we actually reap the benefits ourselves?
