I've just completed a BSc degree in Environmental Health and want to specialise in Health and Safety, ideally, stadium and event safety management.
I am looking for some advise on the range of courses and training opportunities available which would help me further my knowledge in this area.
I am also looking for a trainee position in the Midlands area to start my off on the ladder of employment.
Any advice offered would be appreciated.

As an ex-EHO, I would offer the following advice. If you are eligible, get a job as an EHO in a safety team (loads of vacancies, reasonable money & not enough takers) & gain some experience while you're looking round for the 'perfect' job. I spent quite a lot of time licensing and enforcing events such as agricultural shows, concerts etc. If you haven't done so already, a qualification in noise control would be useful.

Another tip for you, I started out in safety from being stagecrew. If there are local theatres, venues or regular concerts in your area, get in touch with the venues themselves and offer your services as 'local' crew. They are always short - the pay is not good and it takes time to get paid (before I left event safety my record was nine months) but you will get yourself known locally and you'll get to meet 'tour' crews and the promoters.
Once you get your name known, you'll get work coming in. I wasn't clear if you were looking to work for a company or as freelance. Drop us an e-mail and good luck it's a great job !!
