Posted By Vincent Hearn Hi all, Rather like Steve, I am due to leave The Army after 22 yrs at Easter 05. I am a registered Incorporated Engineer with HND in Engineering, furthermore, an NVQ Level 4 in Management and Member of Institute for Leadership and Management. Also a certificate in Management of Health & Safety from The British Safety Council and Affiliate membership of IOSH. I commence NEBOSH Dip Part 1 in Jun with completion in Dec 04. I live in Melton Mowbray Leicestershire but currently work Nr Reading as a Training Manager but wish to enter the Safety Profession and will seek TechSP grade as soon as possible. Any help or advice with regard to Ex Service personnels' experience with transition to civilian life or advice in seeking employment will be appreciated. Many Thanks Vince

Posted By james mackie Vince I have also completed similar courses to yourself. (REME) The BSC certificate is not worth the paper it is written on in the world of H & S. (unless you are a line manager with a minor h&s role) You have chosen the correct course in Dip1. I went the NVQ 4 way to get MIOSH and was able to complete it in 6 months. If you want a full time safety professionals job you will need to get MIOSH asp. There are very few jobs out there that cater for Certificate holders. When they do come up you will be one of hundreds to apply. Good luck. Jim
