Hi,
A slightly different enquiry.
I am a freelance health and safety consultant. Ive been in business for a year and business is progressing well (thank you to all of those on the IOSH forum who advised me to go for it).
I am on the IOSH consultancy register and have recieved a number of leads via this method. I have been approached by Yellow Pages about putting a small advert in my local Yellow Pages.
Have any other consultants done this ?
If so did you have a good response ? Do you think its worth the £200 investment?
Your views would be much appreciated.
Deana

Deana,
Imagine you are a Production Manager or H&S Officer/Manager at a company and you decide that you need a consultant to assist you with health and safety on site. In the year 2004 with all the technology available to you do you honestly think that you would pick up the Yellow Pages to look for a health and safety consultant? A local plumber or florist maybe.
I have had a free listing in the Yellow Pages for quite some time and not one enquiry. When they phoned me to ask me if I wanted to spend hundreds of pounds on a large advert I wasn't very excited and decided that there were more suitable media on which to spend my advertising budget.
Regards,
Paul Craythorne

Hi
I have been using yellow pages for 3 years now, and have gradually inceased the size of ads, at first with the £200 special it did nothing, however as my ads got bigger they generated more work.
Think of it this way, if you look in Yellow pages, do you go for the one liners, or pick the box ads that catch your eye in your location.
To start with I would not recommend Yellow pages unless you can afford a bigger ad.
You could also consider Yell.com, which is about the same price, but is the up and coming marketing medium.
