Posted By Sean Gilgallon I'm starting my second year at Portsmouth, taking the distance learning MSc in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Management, but now I'm having second thoughts. I had to choose to continue doing this title or opting for another unit of choice to change the title to MSc Occupational Health and Safety Management, with the added unit I considered as Employmenet law instead of Environment. Having spoken to Senior HR people at work they think I should have opted for the Employment Law route as that combined with H&S could be in big demand. I already have DipSHEM from Nottingham University and thought it obvious to continue at this level, but I'm unsure now. I will have to tell Portsmouth asap as study material will be sent soon Any advice???

Posted By Timothy Capner Hi Sean I also did the NTU DipSHEM, but have chosen to follow an MSc with the emphasis upon the environmental side of the equation. Both the MSc titles are well respected within the 'industry', and as such you are best to persue something that interests you. Employment law may be studied as a 'stand alone' unit at a later date - perhaps not with Portsmouth but it can be done with other institutions. I do appreciate your dilema, but would advise that you follow your heart in this choice. Do what feels 'right' for you. Hope this helps Regards Tim C
