BRIEF DESCRIPTION Rail Safety, Health & Environmental professional to carry out all aspects of general safety within the rail sector.
JOB OBJECTIVE To provide a reliable, professional and supportive advisory service to manage, reduce, if not eliminate, Safety Health and Environmental risk to our organisation and their workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting directly to the HSEQ Director. Day to day communication with the project Management team .
LOCATION Northampton office based with frequent requirement for regional and national site visits.
MAIN DUTIES OR TASKS • Safety Audits and Inspections. • Accident / Incident investigations. • CDM SQE Plan • Preparation and or review of Risk assessments and method statements. • General safety management and safe systems of work.
Legislative,Company and Grooup standard review and evaluation.
Contractors assurance case compliance
QUALIFICATIONS •Railway experience,PTS, NEBOSH qualified or equivalent. • MIOSH, Environmental qualification and experience of quality management
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Essential • A minimum of 3 years experience in the Rail Industry. • A minimum of 5 years as Safety practitioner. • Comprehensive knowledge of H & S legislation and Network rail standards • Can demonstrate effective delivery of the safety message. Preferred • Experience dealing with HMRI, Local Authority and environmental agencies
SKILLS • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Excellent presentational. • Effective influencing & persuasive skills.Sense of humour a must.
PERSON SPECIFICATION • Familiar with use of IT including email, word and power point. • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels. • Well organised with good time management. • Able to work under own initiative. • Willingness to travel. • Hold a full, current driving licence. • Team player. SALARY Starting salary £40K plus railway pension subject to qualification and experience, probationary period and salary review after 6 months
