Posted By Peter Wright Can anyone point me in the right direction for guidance notes on loading and unloading HGV articulated trailer units and whether it is OK to unload with the unit unattached with the legs down. Thanks

Posted By Paul Craythorne Peter, You should ensure that the vehicle/trailer has its brakes applied and/or is stabilised, as appropriate, to prevent unsafe movements during loading/unloading operations. There is very useful HSE Guidance available called 'Workplace Transport Safety'you can get this from HSE Books. If you send me your fax number to my e-mail address (PCrayth@aol.com) I will attempt to fax you the relevant pages for loading/unloading operations. Regards, Paul
