Posted By Ken Taylor Does anyone know of a source of 'safe' ash-trays for issuing to residents in residential care for use within their own rooms? They need to provide a rest for cigarettes from which they won't readily fall to the floor, etc and to fully enclose discarded cigarette ends so as to prevent both fires and the re-ignition of previously discarded ends allowing smoke to continue entering the room.

Posted By Dot Tadman Hi, Don't know if this information will be of any use, but its worth a try. Try getting a hold of any shipping procurement companies. My husband worked on oil tankers a few years back and they used ashtrays which are cube shaped and have a honeycomb effect in the middle, which when you put a cigarette into it, it smothers the lit end and so renders it safe. Regards and best of luck Dot

Posted By Ken Taylor Thanks Dot. I shall have to look out for these. All the standard brochures seem to offer the external 'heavy duty' type only - which would not be suitable for residents rooms.
