Posted By Jamie Fogg Does anyone know of an appropriate independent advisory body who could provide me with information on emergency evacuation equipment for 'High Bay' Warehouse Cranes. We are currently being 'advised' by a firm of equipment suppliers that we need to provide a full body harness with lanyard etc in order to comply with legislation. I am unsure of the legislation that requires this type of equipment in an emergency situation. In fact, the use of it would introduce other hazards, in particular the time it takes to fit the equipment. Any help would be appreciated.

Posted By Diane Warne Jamie, When "advised" of something like this by equipment suppliers and the like, it's a good idea to ask them exactly which regulations they are talking about, and ask them to quote the section that says you have to do what they suggest. This can distinguish between a genuine legal requirement and a sales pitch! Sorry I can't help with your specific query but I hope the above suggestion helps. Get them to say exactly what the requirement is and which legislation says so. Regards Diane
