Posted By Sean Cormican I'm looking for a set of Safety Metrics that could be applied to a number of facilities and that allow people to measure the positive items (preventive etc.) as well as the more usual negative (accident/illness) ones. Any ideas on where such a set is available ?

Posted By Peter Walker You will need to train people in a system of measuring your positive safety actions, this can be introduced by the use of one of the known sytems - namely : STOP(Safety Training Observation Programme). B Safe. Safe, Unsafe Safety Auditing ( SUSA). There will be others on the market I am sure. If used correctly the results of the audits can be used as a positive measure and without focusing on the usual negative accident and incident reports, it will be possibly to influence the same. My own experience is that you have a hard job ahead of you but believe me if you can get support from the top and don't expect an overnight change then it is worth the effort. Regards peter Walker
