Posted By Malcolm Can anyone recommend a course on Roof Safety? Require to train Facilities staff (approx 5 persons), as they will have to access roof of new building for scheduled routine maintenance.

Posted By Frank Cooper Malcolm, In some areas the local Fire Brigade will offer this type of training and it is worth contacting them. I hope this helps, Frank Cooper

Posted By Bryn Maidment Malcolm, try looking up the Construction Industry Training Board in Yellow Pages. They will have the right course for you - depends where you are though Incidentally, was the safe access of maintenance persons onto the finished roof taken into account as part of the design process (CDM, new build etc.). If so , then minimal training should be required because sufficient safety should be incorporated into the design (edge protection, walkways, protected ladders, blah-blah). If not then phone CITB and claim the costs back off the designer!!

Posted By Ken Taylor The CITB also have some useful video-based training packages: 'Alright at Height' and 'Accent on Access'. Tel: 01485 577486.

Posted By Ian Waldram How about the Scottish Branches 1-day Seminar on "Safe Working at Heights", 17 May 2001, Kelvin Conference Centre, Glasgow? It isn't training for roof workers, but should help you to understand some options.
