Can anyone tell me what the current regulations are about the colour coding of portable fire extinguishers and what other information should they display on them.

I believe you need to comply with BS EN 3 - although extinguishers to BS 5423 may still be used. All-red bodies are required but an optional coloured area of up to 5% of the total surface area is permitted (enabling us to continue the well-known black = CO2, cream = foam, blue = dry powder practice). You could try getting literature on this from the Fire Protection Association on 020 7902 5300.
