Does anyone have any general information about the prefabricated housing introduced after the War which were built with corrugated asbestos. London area in particular. Was there any particular type of asbestos used \ from somewhere in particular \ did a particular company provide it. I read somewhere recently that some of the houses came from the USA but I might have got that wrong. Were they known as "Tarron" houses and does anyone know why?
Thanks in advance.

Contact the Building Research Establishment - I'd try the Housing Centre - they've definitely done a lot of work on PRC prefabs in the past.

We have demolished hundreds of these buildings over the past years.
The asbestos cement sheeting could contain any of the three main types of asbestos, but the samples we have sent for analasys have always contained white asbestos.
If I can be of any further help please get in touch
Regards
Peter
