Posted By Francis MSc MIOSH RSP Anyone able to provide advice on the health implications of laying at temperature, and subsequently disturbing, thousands of tonnes of Base Course containing ash from incinerators (no I didn't see the Newsnight Programme)? Thanks

Posted By Tony Overbury I can't help you directly but the ENDS report has run a series of articles on the recycling of incinerator ash that might be of use. ENDS have a website (www.endsreport.com) but I'm not sure whether you have to subscribe to the magazine to access it. In addition, you could see whether the IOSH Technical Affairs team have any information that might help - they might even subscribe to ENDS. Hope this helps but if you would like to discuss the problem further please email me, as I can always raise the issue with the Environmental Specialist Group. Tony Overbury

Posted By Karl Curtis I saw the newsnight programme and it raised some very interesting points particularly with regard to traceability of road building projects which incorporated mixes of fly and bottom ash from the refuse incinerators. If you havent yet seen the item you can review it and the transcript by visiting the BBC web site and www.bbc.co.uk. then serach for newsnight and follow the link. Once on the site you should go to the "another chance to see" tab and this should give you a list of past articles including this one and the Michael Meacher interview. Karl
