Posted By Deirdre Palk I advise the people who 'run' a medieval castle, with gardens and other attractions, to which a growing number of teachers come with parties of school students. Some have recently started to ask for the company's risk assessment for school visits. This seems sensible, and would in effect not be hugely difficult to draw up. However, some of these teachers say that they have received such assessments from other 'ancinet monuments' etc. e.g. the Tower of London. If there is anyone out there, either in the leisure field (visitor attactions/ancient monuments category) or in education (school outings to medieval castles and grounds category), who has such a risk assessment and would be willing to let me see it, or at least the gist of it or the headings, I'd be most grateful.

Posted By Ken Taylor The DfEE (now DfES) have a guidance booklet on the health and safety of school visits generally - but they don't refer to the specifics of ancient monuments. Perhaps English Heritage could point you in the right direction on this one. They have a health and safety advisor.
