However, the funniest are those that appear amongst serious postings, and it's often a matter of joy to find one (in my opinion). I don't log on for jokes, but when I find an amusing post I usually enjoy it. Humour is one of our sharpest tools when communicating, and there is no point denying it access here. Not sure this particular sausage is worth saving - but can we at least overturn the precedent that is being set please? Thanks. p.s. as an enthusiast, I would confirm that Lincolnshires should not curve anywhere near as much as the circular Cumberland.

Posted By Al.. I support the moderator’s decision to lock the sausage thread…..…it was a very poor spoof from MarkSMark which initiated the thread and one which fell far short of his usual standards. A good spoof in a professional forum such as this should be in the tradition of the April fool news items which run in some of the national papers. On a first reading it should not be readily apparent that it is a spoof – it should be plausible and only on a more detailed and thoughtful reading should its true nature become apparent. That Mark’s spoof postings often provoked serious discussion by some forum members showed that some had been “fooled” (including the moderator on one occasion I remember) and amused those of us who had already worked out what he was up to. The sausage “spoof” was however just plain silly and not worthy of a professional forum. Pull your socks up Mark. You need to do better than this. If we are to have spoof postings (and occasionally I think we should), they should be of a much higher quality. However I think your cover has now been completely blown and it is perhaps time for MarkSMark to retire from the forum. But I hope that you (who ever you are) will return under a different name and continue to keep us all amused from time to time.

Posted By Martin R. Bessant Whilst having breakfast the last two days in a hotel near IOSH Headquarters, I reviewed the criteria regarding the diameter of the humble sausage. The ones provided for my breakfast where nicely brown, shiny and well rounded, so the hotel had not hashed up the feast. I guess that they had brought home the bacon and had not purchased any old bangers. Well, this thread is now well and truly cooked and I have been well grilled, so it is time for it to say goodnight and for us to get back to slightly more serious affairs. This thread is therefore come out of the frying pan and has been well chopped. Thank you all for your enlightening comments. Matin Bessant - Lead Moderator.
