Posted By Lukasz Would you allow to use adjustable restraint lanyards to work next to open edge of the excavations (4 meters)? Or what would you recommend as a fall arrest system knowing that barriers on excavation cannot be installed due to works carried out? Thanks

Posted By Dave Merchant Restraint is always better than fall arrest, and for excavations where you can't use barriers, restraint lines with harnesses/belts is the best option overall.

Posted By claret65 Lukasz, More info is needed. Can you explain the ongoing work which restricts edge protection?

Posted By Martyn Hendrie If the excavation is 4m deep it presumably has some form of trench support system. In my experience it would be normal to design the support system to be approx 1m above ground level allowing it to form the fall prevention barrier.

Posted By justgossip Working with a ground works company I do not understand how you could have a deep excavation that you are not able to control by a barrier(s)of one type or another. Collective measure of protection, individual harness or the like of might be a complex solution in practise. Maybe a little more detail would allow us to help beeter. garry
