Posted By Sharon I have just installed an in house security system, fobs, access control system, CCTV, etc. Just wondered how others out there controlled the possibility of employees walking off site with items which belonged to the company........ We do have CCTV but this is not manned 24/7 like it was previously although it is recorded.

Posted By jeffrey david smith We have a system of everyone signing for pieces of equipment they take from stores. This is kept centrally and audited on a regular basis. Anyone found to have items missing is charged accordingly. At other sites people sign stuff out and in on a daily basis, therefore making it impossible to walk out with it at night. Vehicles etc are checked by security (because tools are getting quite expensive!!). Have fun!

Posted By Merv Newman Jeffrey, not actually knowing your site but I'm sure I could walk off with a portable computer. Or even your desk. Sharon, CCTV 24/7, recorded. I hope you have updated to off-site write-only CDs. ie never re-used, never wiped. And do you have a web-cam at home watching the guards ? And who is watching you ?. And her ? What have you got to lose ? (just tell me, in complete confidence of course) Never forget that the human mind has an infinite capacity for buggering security systems. Coming or going. Merv

Posted By A Campbell Is this H&S related? Sounds more like a HR area.... Contract of employment, company site rules... disciplinary procedure, when caught act swiftly and inform workforce of outcome as deterrent.
