Afternoon to one and all,
We are about to start removing ceiling tiles from a hospital ward. The ward is closed for total re-furbishment and ready for us to begin, however adjacent wards are still in use nearby. All the necesary risk asesments have been carried out regarding ACM's, general dust and biological hazards etc, etc and the trust are happy.
However in order to minimse the dust that will inevitably be above the ceiling from spreading, we are planning to put up polythene screening at the entrance to the ward with a foyer type area followed by another screen that can both be zipped up.
Idealy they will need to be re-usable as there are more areas and other trades to follow. I was looking at something that Asbestos removal firms might use. Any one know where we may purchase anything like it?
Thanks in advance
Clive

Clive,
Removal contractors generally use 1000 gauge flame retardant polythene on a one use only regime. I suggest you look at ACAD (Asbestos Control and Abatement Division) or ARCA Asbestos Removal Contractors Association) websites to see if there is anything more specialised and suited to your needs. I presume asbestos is not a direct issue and you just want some kind of durable and portable screening system. Maybe even trying some of the builders suppliers within the construction industry? From experience the more you move it around and the more traffic it is exposed to there will inevitably be remedial works required so you need to weigh up safety, practicality and cost as well.

Gerry,
Thanks for the response.
You assumed right regarding ACM's as they are all either removed or identified on the AMP and in good condition. We only need to get the ceiling tiles out which we know are dusty.
I think the 1000 guage polythene or something on those lines is what we will end up using.
Cheers
Clive
