Hi folks

I am looking at putting radar on our boat, do I have to do anything special with regards to radiation please? Defo not my field of expertise!

Provided that the Radar you choose is suitable for your type of boat and is installed and commissioned correctly the risk is minimal.
The Electromagnetic Radiation is only present whilst the set is switched on and transmitting so if it is installed at optimum height above deck level even then the risk would be very low.
All other relevant info you should be able to glean from manufacturers litrature. The radiation beam is quite narrow and directional to ensure all energy is sent out in the direction required through the aerial phasing unit which in effect is a form of electronic rotation. (Modern aerials don't usually rotate like a 'traditional' view of a radar aerial and they are usually contained within a housing)
If you consider the type of boat you have and what you use it for, you may reconsider whether you need to install Radar. In many cases a good reflector is all that is needed.
