Hello
We have recently purchased a small flatbed truck for collections and deliveries.

I am confident that the driver is capable and competent to secure the load by using the appropriate ratchet straps, but is this sufficient or is further training required?

Thanks for any assistance offered

Hi Mark,

Personally I think he should have some extra training. The weight and placement on the load bed can have a great effect on how the vehicle handles, braking, steering etc.Dependent on the weight of the load more straps may be required to prevent the load movement in transit? Individual axle overloading can be caused by not siting the load in It's optimum position.

Afternoon,

I would have a look at this book:-

Department for transport - Safety of loads on vehicles.

www.tso.co.uk and at £10.50 .....bargin!

This covers a vast amount of ways to secure different types load from farm machinery to dangerous loads.

Cheers

Jon
