Safety shoes below the ankle on construction site

Posted By Paul Darren Joseph While they are puncture resistant and protects the toes, there is the risk of twisting an ankle that is not supported in the rough terrained construction site. Also hot sparks from welding, grinding, flame cutting are also clear and present dangers to the foot uising this type of footwear. Some of the shoes even have ventilation holes. I was told they meet European standards. Please advise.

Posted By Renny Thomson The BSEN standard only refers to certain areas of protection such as the soles, penetration and toecaps. There is not reference to ankle protection.
It is all down to your Risk Assessment of what is suitable.
