We are employing a qualified trainer to undertake abrasive wheels training, I have a fair idea what they should be covering but just in case:

What Key points should I expect my staff to be taught. I want to have a kind of mental tick list to ensure the trainer is doing a good job.

Already in mind I have: checking the date on the disc, visual inspections, read manufacturers guidelines, a brief explanation of the legal duties under PUWER........

So anything else to look for would be great.

The trainer will need to refer mainly to PUWER, HSG 17 and the British Standards for the marking of wheels.

Along side this practical training in the mounting of wheels, limits of use and practical cutting/grinding using PPE and appropriate methods.

Appointment should be made to list the types and classes of wheels trained on...
