Hi everyone,

I have just been given a list of hazardous waste (by product name/quantity) that needs removing from our site. Can anyone please give me a step-by-step plan of what to do with it in order to classify it ready for sending the list off for quotes? Or do i just send the list together with MSDS's to the waste contractor?

If you are going to competent specialist contractors I would have expected that a clear description of the waste and the quantities and perhaps a site visit so they can see what access and handling will be like would suffice. As part of the quote you could ask them to provide proof of expertise and licences etc and an outline of how they will do the job and avoid risk to others in the area etc.
Just an opinion.

The list and amounts are sufficient for all competent hazardous waste handlers. MSDS can help but you are wasting a lot of effort if you are trying to do more. Remember that the the Waste Handler will drive all the papaerwork etc and you are merely the collection point and the return point if the load is rejected for any reason at the disosal site.

If you want a complete audit trail for your own purposes you will specifically need to require the carrier to provide a copy of the final transfer to the disposal point as the final document part is for the carrier.
