Hi,

Please can anyone advise of a good training provider in the Northwest for Manual Handling Instructor training. I had previously booked with Health Response for their 4day KIMH course but the course was cancelled a few times. I require this training asap.

Thanks in advance,
Em

Hi Emma,
I've recently booked on to ROSPA's Manual Handling Trainer & Assessor course. It's a 5 day course & they have a various dates in a number of locations.

It looks like a good course.

Hope this helps!

Hi Caitlin,

I seen the Rospa one advertised for Manchester in June, only thing that put me off was that it specified:

"Certification applies to the company with which delegates are currently employed,
and covers the instruction of employees within that organisation only."

And

"Delegates who successfully complete the practical and written assessments will be
awarded a RoSPA Manual Handling Instructors and Risk Assessors
Certificate which is valid for three years. After which delegates will be required
to attend a re-qualification course."

I just thought this was a bit of a money spinner. I understand having to keep abreast of any changes in legislation. But can't understand why the course only applies to the company you presently work in.

But thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

Regards,
Em

Hi,

Try the STA (Safety Training Awards/Swimming Teachers Association) Manual Handling Trainers course. This meets the requirements of the Manual Handling Training Passport & Information Scheme. The HSE have stated that the passport scheme “enables organisations to demonstrate best practise in complying with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations”. www.sta.co.uk

I did mine with EEF. Very good value for money/time provided you already know about the law etc and just want to add on the 'instructor' competence.

Try Dr Alistair Bromhead. I found it a good course and you get a set of powerpoints to adapt to your needs

Thanks all, I'll do a quick web search on all providers you have mentioned to see which one matches my needs. Thanks again for your help.
