I am looking for material to help in the development of training/workshop for plant operatives, supervisors and mangers to develop their sense of personal responsibility for their own safety and that of others, and their inclination to follow safe procedures as laid down in the relevant SOPs. I guess this is the holy grail for everyone, so hopefully many of you have recommendations of videos (or other material) that have had a positive impact on you, or on those you work with.

I am familiar with "Think What If, Not If Only" - the Ken Woodward DVD that comes with Managing Safely - but am not aware of anything else. Thanks in advance.

The 'Silence is consent' DVD works quite well for this type of subject. It is more centred on near misses but brings in personal responsibility to carry out corrective or reporting actions.

e-mail requests to: roadworkersafety@highways.gsi.gov.uk or telephone 08457 504030. Hopefully it is still avaiable.

Regards,

I would recommend the SGB video "The cost of accidents". It puts across the concept of your descisions affecting the safety of you and others really well and is also quite hard hitting. I have seen 'hardened' construction operatives reduced to tears by it.

I've used All For One - The Meerkat Way which being animal based rather than human gave both a different slant on things and is emminently watchable.

It got a great feedback from the participants in the training too.

Available from;

Suprised no one has mentioned "remember Charlie" yet.

A very moving and emotional video about one mans experience and personal loss from his own admitted disregard for his others health and safety.
