Can anyone tell me if there is a set frequency for welding refresher training or is it purely risk assessment based?
Can anyone point me to a competent trainer please

where a welder is coded and he/she does not undertake a weld to the standard / type of code which they are coded to; then there are set periods where they re test to maintain their coded status -if they do not re test or fail a standard ongoing day to day NDT etc test they lose their coded status. If they regularly weld to the code standard then each weld is in fact another test so no specific re tests are required

If it is none coded work and a person regularly undertakes welding of the type that they they are competent to do then a simple quality check undertaken on a regular basis should be all that is needed

If somebody does not weld for a considerable period / or is not really competent then more regular up dates are needed

If a weld fails its the company who are at risk so they should manage from this point!
