Afternoon All,

Question about RIDDOR ( Once Again )

If an employee collapses at a smoking area in the site compound and is subsequently taken to hospital ( Suspected Cardiac Problems ) is the incident RIDDOR reportable.

The accident cannot be related to any work activity and was off site at the time .The person was also concious when taken away however he was kept in the hospital but not for a total of 24 hours . This leads me to believe that it would NOT be reportable under RIDDOR. However i want to have all my ducks in a row so to speak.

Please Discuss / Advise.

Phil.

Not Reportable. Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations. You are required to report work-related deaths[1], major injuries[2] or over-three-day injuries[3], work related diseases[4], and dangerous occurrences (near miss accidents. What happened cannot be classed as one of these so not reportable.

Not reportable.

Are we going for a record in the RIDDOR threads or will someone suggest reporting it "just in case"?

I agree, not reportable as the incident is not work related.

I'd report it just in case.

...

Only joking! Definitely not reportable, under the circumstances described.

Not reportable as the "collapse" was not in connection with work.

However, any other injury leading to unconsciousness; or requiring resuscitation is a "major injury"
